Project Description

We Matter is an Indigenous youth-led and nationally registered organization dedicated to Indigenous youth support, hope and life promotion. They created a national multi-media campaign in which Indigenous role models, youth, and community members from across Canada submit short videos, written and artistic messages sharing their own experiences of overcoming hardships, and communicating with Indigenous youth that no matter how hopeless life can feel, there is always a way forward.

We Matter had grown significantly and their original website was not able to meet the demands required of it. They approached DDP looking for better integration with their social media and interactivity for its users. DDP also wanted the look and feel of the website to better resonate with Indigenous youth by being more accessible, approachable, and showcase stories better.

Listening to We Matter, DDP recognized that there had to be a better alignment of technology and design to help showcase the amazing work they do. The website was redesigned to encourage further discussion and sharing of stories with friendlier icons and make access to information quicker.

We merged traditional graphics with modern UX design and overhauled the information flow.

We tracked an immediate increase in the toolkit download numbers and noticed a significant jump in how many users stayed active on the website. The new website has made access easier and our tracking shows an overall increase in activity and engagement.
