Design de Plume, an international award-winning Indigenous and women-owned creative agency, is set to bring its inclusive marketing expertise to Australia as part of a focused Canadian trade delegation. Organized by the Canadian Trade Commission, the delegation includes over 100 innovative businesses that will travel to Sydney and Melbourne from February 16–21, 2025 to forge new international partnerships and expand into Australian markets.

Jennifer Taback, a member of Shawanaga First Nation, and Meggan Van Harten, Co-CEOs of Design de Plume, will represent the agency on this mission. Their goal is to amplify Indigenous voices and foster reconciliation through innovative design solutions that integrate their unique IIDEAS lenses—Indigeneity, Inclusivity, Diversity, Equity, Accessibility, and Sustainability.
“Reconciliation is a global responsibility,” said Jennifer Taback. “As an Anishnaabe-kwe [Indigenous woman], I see immense value in weaving together Indigenous perspectives from different parts of the world. This trade mission offers the opportunity to exchange knowledge, build relationships, and guide our efforts towards inclusive growth and innovation.”

A Bridge Between Cultures and Continents

Design de Plume has a proven track record of helping organizations across North America amplify underrepresented voices. The agency aims to use this expertise to build capacity in Australia, uplifting Indigenous Australian talent and supporting businesses in becoming export-ready for North American markets.

“Australia has a shared journey towards reconciliation, and we’re excited to contribute by showcasing how inclusive marketing and design can create lasting connections,” said Meggan Van Harten. “Our approach, much like a kaleidoscope, blends perspectives and values into meaningful, impactful solutions.”

From Local Roots to Global Impact

Headquartered in Sudbury, Ontario, on the traditional lands of the Atikameksheng Anishnawbek People, Design de Plume has been a leader in inclusive design for 15 years. The agency’s work has earned international acclaim, including its recent collaboration with Johns Hopkins University’s Center for Indigenous Health. By facilitating listening sessions with Indigenous communities, the agency helped refine the Center’s branding to ensure that it authentically reflects diverse global Indigenous perspectives.
