Website
The Library of Parliament (LOP) is more than just an iconic building.
It is also the Parliament of Canada’s knowledge centre, where a diverse and committed team of employees plays a critical role in supporting our parliamentary democracy.
They pride themselves on being a trusted source of information, offering parliamentarians and their staff impartial and confidential reference, research, and analysis services, news from around the globe and access to our extensive collection of resources.
Every year, they welcome about 350,000 visitors to Parliament Hill, where they introduce visitors to the Parliament Buildings and more. In addition, their educational programs and resources help teachers ensure students have the tools they need to understand how democracy works.
How we helped
The LOP needed on-site, accessible digital guide to help visitors navigate through the buildings as they were undergoing renovations.
DDP created an accessible first product that was WCAG 2.0 (Level AA) compliant for the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA).
The guide was easy to navigate and helped provide visual cues and information about the building when it wasn’t available to be seen. It helped support a suite of projects including exhibitions and videos that examined how to experience such a historical place during its renovation period.
