Intermediate Project Manager

Design de Plume Inc. is an Indigenously-owned, women-led creative agency with its headquarters in Sudbury, Ontario. We provide these services to governments, not-for-profits, cultural organizations, healthcare, and higher education institutions. DDP seeks to expand its operations both domestically and internationally with a team of dynamic and innovative professionals.
The role:
An Intermediate Project Manager at Design de Plume is someone who brings structure and clarity to creative processes, guiding projects from kickoff to close-out. You’ll manage a range of deliverables, from websites and brand identities to print layouts, reports, and strategic consultation, ensuring they’re delivered on time, on budget, and in alignment with client goals.
At the Intermediate level, you’re not just managing timelines; you’re building relationships, spotting risks, solving problems, and helping shape how we work. You’ll collaborate closely with designers, developers, partners and clients, using your project management skills to bring creative work to life.
What you’ll do:
Project Management & Collaboration
- Lead day-to-day management of cross-functional projects across web, branding, print, and strategic services
- Develop and maintain project scopes, workbacks, and budgets
- Track timelines, deliverables, and approvals; raise red flags early and keep things moving
- Support resource planning and coordination across multiple projects and team members
Client Communication & Relationship Building
- Serve as the main point of contact for clients on your projects
- Facilitate discovery meetings, briefings, and regular status updates
- Translate client needs into actionable project plans and deliverables
- Communicate clearly and confidently across decisionmakers
Workflow & Delivery Excellence
- Champion consistency and clarity in project documentation and communication
- Coordinate internal reviews, QA, and approvals across disciplines
- Lead project retrospectives and contribute to process improvement
- Help ensure final deliverables meet creative, technical, and accessibility standards
Strategic Thinking & Adaptability
- Support projects through ambiguity and scope evolution
- Help define what success looks like for each project and track against outcomes
- Apply critical thinking and creative problem solving in an environment with multiple, competing priorities
- Promote a values-aligned and people-centred approach to project delivery

What You Bring to the Team
Experience & Technical Know-How
- 3–5 years of experience managing creative or digital projects in an agency or studio setting
- Experience across branding, print, web, and/or strategy projects
- Strong understanding of project management methodologies (Agile/Scrum familiarity an asset)
- Proficiency with project management tools (e.g., Jira, Asana, ClickUp) and collaborative platforms (e.g., Figma, Miro, Slack, Google Workspace).
- Knowledge of web development and accessibility (AODA/WCAG) is considered an asset
- Experience facilitating engagement sessions, gathering client requirements, and translating them into actionable project plans with the ability to gracefully manage scope changes.
- Demonstrated ability to proactively identify project risks and issues, communicate impacts, and develop mitigation strategies.
- Experience working on projects with diverse contributors and the ability to apply an equity or inclusion lens to project planning and delivery.
People & Communication Skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills—clear, concise, and people-centred
- Able to build rapport with clients and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
- Skilled at managing feedback loops and facilitating productive conversations
- Be a good listener and master problem solver
Project Leadership
- Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities across multiple projects and manage multiple team members, and/or leads at one time
- Experience in anticipating risks, resolving conflicts, and balancing structure with flexibility
- Proactive mindset and a commitment to follow-through
- Curious and always open to learning – especially across cultures and disciplines
- Skilled in owning project scope, workback schedules and budgets.
- Ability to work directly with clients
- Be open to always learning – about other cultures and other ways of doing.
- Strong ability to define and track project success metrics, focusing on both delivery and impact.
Benefits at DDP:
- $70,000 / year salary
- 2 weeks of holiday (plus an additional week of paid holiday over our Christmas shut-down)

Work Contract:
Full-time, permanent
Probation period of 6 months
This is not a freelance role; agency or studio experience is required
Candidates must currently reside in Canada
Work Hours & Location
Monday to Friday, 9:00am to 4:30pm ET
While our hours follow Eastern Time, we offer flexibility for team members in other time zones to modify their schedules to maintain effective overlap and work-life balance.
