Aki-eh Dibinwewziwin is an Indigenous-owned partnership between Atikameksheng Anishnawbek, Wahnapitae First Nation, and Technica Mining.

This project allows communities to collectively contribute to the local economy while preserving their important role as stewards and protectors of the land.

Aki-eh Dibinwewziwin is a vital initiative grounded in partnership with First Nations communities, supporting their self-determined path toward sovereignty and independence. When creating a visual identity for this new entity, our goal was to create a cohesive brand for this partnership group that would allow them to communicate clearly with different audiences: community members, industry decision-makers, and the general public.

How we helped

The design concept was inspired by topographical maps and the spirit lines found in woodland art, with the inclusion of Medicine Wheel colours (black, red, yellow, white) and earth tones to reflect the connection to the land.

The logomark is a circle, which has great significance in Indigenous cultures. We created an abstract landscape scene using interwoven shapes to symbolize the value of collaboration.

The entire scene is composed of seven sections to represent the Seven Grandfather Teachings, a set of Anishinaabe guiding principles that has been passed down between generations for thousands of years.

Making a difference

Aki-eh Dibinwewziwin means “to be owned by the land,” and our branding approach reflects this core value. The new branding’s overall tone is grounded, trustworthy, and confident but humble. The suite of assets is built with expansion in mind and will support Aki-eh Dibinwewziwin as it grows and establishes itself in the region.
