Branding

The Indigenous Health Program was new at the University Health Network (UHN), established in 2020.

The scope of research and complexity of cases at UHN has made them a national and international source for discovery, education and patient care.

UHN wanted to create a brand that resonated with Indigenous people while being committed to the Truth and Reconciliation call to action. The overall mission is to provide access to high quality health care.

The Indigenous Health Program is a Community-led program, accountable to the community with community relationships being a priority. UHN wanted patients to be able to self-identify when they enter the institution so they can be connected with the right services and to feel supported.

How we helped

Inspired by Indigenous woodland art, the brand uses organic shapes and vivid colours to portray culturally relevant client centered care.

A bird cradling the logo represents the program’s holistic approach to supporting patients.

In the heart of the logo a drum beats as sound waves ripple outwards like water. The ripples represent communication, being heard, and having a voice.
